The makers of upcoming Malayalam film, Monica: Oru AI Story, have confirmed that its theatrical release has been postponed. The movie, which was supposed to premiere this week, will now open in theatres on June 21. The cause of the postponement remains undisclosed.

The movie stars US-born online influencer and entrepreneur Aparna Mulberry as an Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) character. Being fluent in Malayalam, Aparna is making her acting debut in this novel film, the first of its kind in India. She became well-known among Malayalis thanks to her presence on Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 4 and her noteworthy social media following.

The movie has drawn attention for its creative use of AI technology as well as for its outstanding cast, which stars Sripath, a popular child artist from Malikkapuram, and renowned magician Gopinath Muthukad in important parts.

The recently released movie's trailer tells the tale of a young student who appears to be a playful student who tricks people. It chronicles the boy's life following his discovery of Monica, an AI woman.

Monica: An AI Story, which is bankrolled by Mansoor Palloor under the Zams Production House's banner, looks to provide a contemporary cinematic experience to the audience on big screen. Some areas of Mahe, Kochi, and Kasargod were among the places in Kerala where the movie was shot. It is anticipated that the film will be dubbed into several languages in order to guarantee a wider audience.

Other Malayalam theatrical releases in June

Little Hearts, starring Mahima Nambiar and Shane Nigam, and Dileesh Pothan-starrer Golam will be screened in theatres on June 7. On June 14, Soubin Shahir's Machante Malakha and Kunchacko Boban's comedy drama Grrr will be released in theatres. The romantic drama 1 Princess Street, which features Balu Varghese in lead role, and Asif Ali’s Level Cross will also hit theatres the same day as part of the Eid holidays.
