L2 Empuraan, the highly awaited second installment of the Lucifer trilogy, premiered in theaters on Thursday, March 27. The film features Mohanlal in the leading role, reuniting with director Prithviraj. According to a report by Sacnilk, Empuraan has garnered Rs 59 crore at the domestic box office across all languages. The collaboration between Mohanlal and Prithviraj has resulted in a favorable occupancy rate in various cities, positioning it as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of the year.

It is important to highlight that Empuraan has swiftly emerged as the fastest Malayalam film to achieve a global gross of Rs 100 crore, surpassing Manjummel Boys, which earned Rs 73.5 crore. Within just three days, Empuraan has already reached Rs 140 crore, making it the highest-grossing Malayalam film outside of India. With the Eid weekend still ongoing, the film is anticipated to experience increased attendance and viewer turnout, which will further enhance its financial performance.
L2 Empuraan makers make 17 modifications; Mohanlal apologises

Following the release of Empuraan, certain right-wing factions expressed their concerns regarding specific riot scenes depicted in the film. In response, the filmmakers implemented 17 changes to the movie.
After Empuraan premiered in theaters, right-wing activists highlighted scenes that bore resemblance to the 2002 Gujarat riots. Mohanlal took to social media to express his regret if the film had hurt anyone's feelings, emphasizing that as an artist, it is his responsibility to ensure that his work does not offend any political entity. He also mentioned that the contentious sequences would be altered in the film.
Empuraan, penned by Murali Gopi, stars Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and others in significant roles.
