Prithviraj Sukumaran's eagerly awaited film, Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal, has achieved remarkable success in advance ticket sales. Just hours after the commencement of advance bookings, the film experienced extraordinary sales, breaking records on BookMyShow. This Malayalam multi-starrer has surpassed the hourly pre-sales figures of Allu Arjun's hit Pushpa 2 and Vijay's Leo.

Empuraan’s record-breaking advance ticket sales

The Malayalam thriller film Empuraan, featuring Mohanlal, experienced an exceptional debut at the box office on March 21, 2025, when advance ticket sales commenced nationwide at 9:00 am. Within a few hours, the film achieved a remarkable milestone in ticket sales. According to online tracking sources, more than 96,140 tickets were sold within the first hour for the sequel to the Lucifer franchise. This marks the highest hourly pre-sales recorded in Indian cinema on BookMyShow.

Previously, the record for the highest hourly pre-ticket sales was held by Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo, which achieved 82,000 sales, and Allu Arjun’s hit film Pushpa2, with 80,000 sales.

Reports indicate that the worldwide advance sales for Empuraan on its first day have surpassed 20.8 crore, establishing it as the largest opener in Mollywood history.

This development suggests that Empuraan is poised for an impressive debut at the box office when it premieres in theaters globally on March 27, 2025. The first shows of the day will commence at 6 am, and many fan screenings are already sold out, according to reports. Numerous videos circulating online depict fans eagerly attempting to secure their tickets at various locations throughout Kerala.

Should the film receive a favorable response during its initial days, Malayalam cinema may anticipate another blockbuster from Mohanlal.

With Empuraan's ticket sales skyrocketing, fans are joyfully commemorating the film's remarkable achievement. Twitter is filled with posters highlighting Empuraan's BMS record, and even other Malayalam actors are sharing these posts across social media platforms.

Supporters are rejoicing as the Mohanlal-led film has surpassed the record previously set by Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay's Leo.

L2 Empuraan, the sequel to the Lucifer series, boasts an impressive ensemble that includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Jerome Flynn, Abhimanyu Singh, Eriq Ebouaney, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
