Mohanlal is joining hands with actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran for the third time, for the upcoming project L2 Empuraan. The movie, a sequel to the actor-director duo’s 2019-released blockbuster Lucifer, started rolling in October 2023. The team has been busy with the extensive filming of the project, which has been happening on multiple schedules. In a recent interview, Mohanlal dropped some major updates on L2 Empuraan and praised director Prithviraj Sukumaran’s grand vision.

In a recent interview with the leading Malayalam media Kerala Kaumudi, Mohanlal extensively spoke about L2 Empuraan. The Malayalam superstar, who is highly impressed with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial skills, stated that the filmmaker has a clear idea about cinema and the film he wants to make. The veteran actor stated that making films like Lucifer and L2 Empuraan is tough, as it has a massive production scale, cast, and crew. According to Mohanlal, Prithviraj has pulled it off, very well.
L2 Empuraan is put on hold, confirms Mohanlal
The Malayalam superstar, who is all excited about L2 Empuraan, also revealed that the shooting is currently put on hold. According to Mohanlal, the makers have yet to wrap up the Gujarat portions, which were filmed in the longest schedule. The cast and crew, which includes over 250 members, were filming at a Palatial property in Gujarat, where they also made a grand set. However, the team was forced to put the shooting on hold, due to the heavy rains.
Mohanlal, who also revealed that they are shooting both the flashback and present portions in the Gujarat schedule, further added that the filming will resume only after the rain stops completely. According to the leading man, the pending portions of L2 Empuraan will be also filmed in the various locations of Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Dubai. The superstar also confirmed that the sets made in Gujarat are well-maintained, and some crew members are staying back to take care of the same.
