L2 Empuraan's worldwide box office earnings on day 13: Prithviraj Sukumaran's third directorial venture, L2 Empuraan, is making waves in the Malayalam film industry. As reported by Sacnilk, the film featuring Mohanlal is nearing the impressive milestone of ₹260 crore globally, setting new benchmarks for future releases.

As of Tuesday, L2 Empuraan had raked in ₹101.20 crore net and ₹118.85 crore gross in India, along with ₹141.15 crore from international markets, bringing its total worldwide collection to ₹259.50 crore. Notably, the film is performing better abroad than in India, even with a 15.32% occupancy rate for the Malayalam version on Tuesday.

Despite being close to the end of its second week, the film shows no signs of slowing down. It has outperformed competitors, surpassing Sikandar to become the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. However, the ₹804 crore worldwide total of Chhaava appears to be a lofty goal.

What led L2 Empuraan to set new records?

In 2023, the film 2018 made history as the first Malayalam movie to surpass the ₹150 crore mark. Following that, the 2024 release Manjummel Boys shattered the ₹200 crore ceiling for Malayalam films, and L2 Empuraan looks set to raise the stakes even higher. This film also marks a milestone as the first Malayalam production to achieve a worldwide share of ₹100 crore, and it's among the select few that earned over ₹80 crore in Kerala.

The story brings back Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi Ab’raam (played by Mohanlal), who steps away from his fight against drug cartels to support his brother, CM Jathin Ramdas (Tovino Thomas), as he forms a partnership with the extremist Baldev (Abhimanyu Singh). Zayed Masood (Prithviraj) and Priyadarshini (Manju Warrier) join Stephen, each with their own motives.
