Korean industry is not only popular for their swoon-worthy romance, but also for their bone-chilling thriller and suspense genre. Due to these two genres—romance and thriller, the K-dramas have been successfully ruling the world for the past decade. Hence, keeping an eye on that popularity, Lionsgate Play is here to give its viewers surprise by bringing the Korean thriller movie—Midnight soon. The 1-hour-43-minute movie was released in 2021 in South Korea.

The Korean thriller movie—Midnight is coming soon on Lionsgate Play, on October 11, 2024. Interestingly, you can also watch the movie through OTTplay Premium on the same day. It has an ensemble star-cast that includes Wi Ha-Joon, Jin Ki-Joo, Gil Hae-Yeon, Kim Hye-Yoon, and Park Hoon.

Midnight Korean movie plot

It's a story about a woman named Kyeong-Mi (Jin Ki-Joo), who is suffering from hearing impairment, becomes an unwitting witness of a gruesome murder attempted by a serial killer. As the killer coldly stabs the victim, she catches a glimpse of the horrific act, however, her limited hearing was unable to capture the screams of the victim.

Soon fear grips her, and she tries her level best to alert people surrounding her. She runs away home with a shaky body, where she has a brother named Do-Shik (Wi Ha-Joon) and a mother (Gil Hae-Yeon) as her only family. After hearing the incident from her mouth, the brother, and the mother turn into protector of the woman.

Now the brother and the mother must sheild her anyhow form the hands of that serial killer, and due to that, the two must embark on a race-against-time situation to bring that killer to justice.

Jin Ki-Joo’s experience working in Midnight

Jin Ki-Joo, who is famous for several romantic K-dramas like Come and Hug Me (2018), The Secret Life of My Secretary (2019), From Now On Showtime! (2022), My Perfect Stranger (2023), have talked very highly about getting the chance to work in Midnight in 2021 during an interview with The Korea Times.

"I had not really thought about the significance of my first leading role in a movie. Due to filming taking place at night and consisting of a lot of chase scenes, it was physically demanding. My knees hurt so much because I was running all over the place”, Jin Ki-Joo stated.
