The much-anticipated film of Bong Joon Ho following his best-picture winner Parasite, Mickey 17, is finally here, and Warner Bros. has dropped the teaser trailer. This science fiction thriller, starring Robert Pattinson as Mickey Barnes, a "disposable" employee, is based on Edward Ashton's 2022 book of the same name. Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Naomi Ackie are among the other actors in the cast.
Plot overview: Mickey's death and rebirth in a science fiction world
In the film, colonising an ice planet is one of Mickey's perilous undertakings, as it is in the book. Mickey's death leads to the creation of a copy, which retains most of his memories.

Bong, via his firm Offscreen, is not only the director and writer of Mickey 17, but he is also the producer. Dooho Choi of Kate Street Pictures, as well as Plan B's Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, are among the extra producers.
Recently, Warner Bros. moved Mickey 17 from March 29, 2024, to its current January 2025 slot, among other times adjusting the film's release schedule. Variety's sources reveal that Warner Bros. announced the film to secure an Imax release window and extend the project's completion time. Hollywood strikes and other production changes had delayed the film, necessitating this decision.
Bong Joon Ho's return after Parasite's historic success
After the huge success of his 2019 thriller Parasite, which depicted a working-class Korean family that sneaked into the house of a wealthy family, Bong's debut feature film Mickey 17 follows suit. Parasite became the first film in a language other than English to win best picture at the Oscars. The picture also received nominations for best foreign movie, director, and original screenplay. The other significant films directed by Bong are Snowpiecer, Okja, Memories of Murder, The Host, and Mother.
Recently, Pattinson portrayed Bruce Wayne with a sombre sensibility in Matt Reeves's The Batman (2022). Tenet (Christopher Nolan) and High Life (Claire Denis) are two of his most recent science fiction credits.
Theatres will welcome Mickey 17 on January 31, 2025.
