Mere Husband Ki Biwi box office collection on its opening day: The romantic comedy featuring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet experienced a lacklustre debut at the box office. The film earned less than ₹2 crore on its first day, reflecting a slow start.

Box office analysis

According to Sacnilk.com, Mere Husband Ki Biwi recorded approximately ₹1.65 crore (nett) in India on its initial day of release. The film achieved an overall occupancy rate of 12.17 per cent in Hindi screenings on Friday.

In terms of audience turnout, the morning shows attracted 8.64 per cent of viewers, the afternoon shows saw a 13.75 per cent turnout, and the evening shows recorded a 14.12 per cent attendance. The film's opening day performance may have been impacted by the strong competition posed by Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which is performing robustly at the box office.

About the film

The cast includes Bhumi Pednekar, Rakul Preet Singh, Dino Morea, Harsh Gujral, and Shakti Kapoor. The film is presented by Vashu Bhagnani & Puja Films, and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh, with its release date set for February 21.

The narrative centres around Ankur Chadha, portrayed by Arjun Kapoor, who is haunted by his ex-wife Prabhleen Dhillon, played by Bhumi Pednekar, who is his polar opposite. When Ankur finds new love with Antara Khanna, portrayed by Rakul Preet Singh, Prabhleen experiences retrograde amnesia. The film explores the complications that arise when she mistakenly believes Ankur has just proposed to her.

As noted in a review by Hindustan Times, “Mudassar Aziz’s direction is merely average. Following the enjoyable experience of Khel Khel Mein, expectations were elevated, yet the emotional depth is lacking, and the humour is sparse. The music is pleasant, particularly the track Gori Hain Kalaiyaan. Overall, Mere Husband Ki Biwi had the potential to be a comedic success. It makes a commendable effort, and credit is due to the creators for their ambition, but ultimately, it does not meet expectations.”
