Karthi’s role in Meiyazhagan inspired from this director

Actor Karthi and Arvind Swamy will be seen as leads in the upcoming film Meiyazhagan. Scheduled to hit theatres on September 27, the film is directed by Prem Kumar who earlier made 96. The teaser was released by the makers recently, we see Karthi’s character playing a naïve and childlike character.

Asked about how Karthi’s role was fashioned, Prem Kumar in an interview with OTTplay said, “The character is based on my friend, and director who came all the way from the village to make a film. He did a film called Asuravadham; Maruthu Pandiyar. His traits have been placed in Karthi’s character. I have also borrowed from a plumber who visited my house, whose traits too are in his character. They are all innocent, not ignorant or mentally retarded. They are absolutely perfect people who consciously decide to remain that way. We may think they don’t know but they are just blissfully unaware.”
