The production house's decision to release Kiccha Sudeep’s film Max on December 25 was influenced by specific business considerations, as stated by the actor, who also serves as a co-producer. This explanation was provided by Sudeep regarding the film's simultaneous release with Upendra’s UI. Originally, Max was intended to premiere in theatres much earlier and could have potentially been rescheduled for an early 2025 release.

The decision to release the film in late December is reportedly influenced by obligations to satellite and digital partners. Recent speculation suggests that Max may soon be available for streaming. The satellite and digital rights for Max are believed to be held by Zee Network, which previously acquired Sudeep’s latest film, Vikrant Rona, and is anticipated to premiere it on streaming shortly after the 30-day window. Current reports indicate that Max is expected to be available on Zee5 on or before January 31, 2025.

Produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu and directed by newcomer Vijay Kartikeyaa, the film experienced a strong performance during its opening week at the box office, although its momentum diminished in the second week. With major releases from the Telugu and Tamil film industries approaching theaters in the coming days, it is anticipated that Max's box office performance may decline further, thereby increasing the likelihood of an early OTT release.
