Kiccha Sudeep’s Max, which turned out to be the biggest hit of 2024, was the most anticipated OTT release of the new year. After its theatrical run took a nosedive post the third week, everyone thought it would hit OTT by the end of January. But there was no sign of it. Instead, they announced a TV premiere.

This sparked rumors that the OTT rights for Max hadn’t been sold, but the creators quickly set the record straight. Zee Network holds the satellite and digital rights, with Zee Kannada and Zee5 as the platforms. They also revealed that the TV premiere would be on February 15 at 7:30 PM. Fans were then told the OTT release would follow a week later on February 22, which didn’t sit well with them. While this wasn’t officially confirmed, the news fans had been waiting for finally came straight from the source.

Max is dropping its release on OTT

Zee Network is set to premiere Max on TV and OTT on February 15, at the same time, so viewers can choose how they want to watch it.

Max, which marks the directorial debut of Vijay Kartikeyaa and is produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu, was Sudeep’s first film in more than two years, following 2022’s Vikrant Rona. The movie was anticipated to wrap up quickly since the plot takes place over a single night and they were filming at a location in Mahabalipuram. However, bad weather in Chennai led to some setbacks.

The movie was all set to go by mid-2024, and everyone was looking forward to a release around Sudeep’s birthday. But that didn’t happen, and for a while, the filmmakers went quiet about when it would actually hit theaters.

Finally, it was revealed that the film would come out during Christmas, just five days after Upendra’s UI, leaving Kannada film fans scratching their heads about the box office showdown.

In this flick, Sudeep takes on the role of a cop named Arjun Mahakshay, or Max, who’s about to return to his station after a short suspension. The night before his comeback, his team catches a couple of thugs, which leads to a big problem. The story revolves around how Max tackles this situation in just one night. The cast also includes Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Sunil, Samyukta Hornad, Ugramm Manju, and Sukrutha Wagle, among others.
