A thrilling first look at Christopher Nolan's upcoming film, The Odyssey, has just dropped. It features Matt Damon as the lead character, Odysseus.

In the image, Damon is seen from behind, clad in a warrior's robe, likely just back from the battlefield after the Trojan War.

This star-studded production from Universal Pictures is based on Homer's classic Greek epic and boasts a fantastic cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Benny Safdie, and Jon Bernthal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story follows King Odysseus and his grueling 10-year trek back to Ithaca after the Trojan War, filled with divine interruptions and encounters with mythical beings like Cyclopes. It also highlights the struggles of Odysseus's wife and son as they deal with aggressive suitors vying for the throne.

While Nolan hasn't shared too many specifics yet, there's speculation that Mia Goth might play a siren, a captivating creature known for luring sailors to their doom. In the tale, Odysseus famously ties himself to a mast to resist their enchanting song. There's also a chance she could be portraying a goddess or a statue. Universal hasn't commented on this, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The supporting cast includes Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, and Samantha Morton in this adaptation of Homer's epic.

Homer's 'The Odyssey' is one of the most celebrated pieces of Western literature, chronicling Odysseus's dangerous journey home after the Trojan War.
