A story that shines a light on the class divide in Bengaluru is at the heart of the Kannada film Maryade Prashne. This was the debut feature from RJ Pradeepa’s Sakkath Studio. The film, which Pradeepa came up with, was brought to life by director Nagaraj Somayaji and hit theaters last November, receiving a mix of reviews.

It was expected that Maryade Prashne would land on Zee5, thanks to Pradeepa's long connection with Zee Network. However, it turns out that the digital streaming rights have actually been picked up by Amazon Prime Video. You can catch Maryade Prashne on their platform starting February 7.

The movie features Rakesh Adiga, Poorna Mysore, Suneel Raoh, Prabhu Mundkur, and Teju Belawadi, and it tells a gripping revenge story that pits the wealthy against the less fortunate. It centers around three childhood pals—Suri (Rakesh Adiga), Manja (Poorna Mysore), and Sathisha (Suneel Raoh)—who all have hopes for a brighter future but are dealing with their own challenges.

Sathisha, who hasn't had much luck in business, is now delivering food to pay off his debts. Manja, a cab driver, is working hard to save up for his own vehicle. Meanwhile, Suri, who assists a local politician, is looking for political support to become a corporator. They lean on each other for support through tough times, but everything changes when they cross paths with a group of wealthy young men, leading to a tragic turn of events.

Maryade Prashne faced criticism for its clichéd portrayal of both the lower middle class and the upper class. The middle class, always struggling to get by, is shown as purely virtuous, while the upper class is depicted as entirely negative, which doesn't really reflect reality. This oversimplification ends up overshadowing the important message about the dangers of drunk driving.
