The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Synopsis and Central Themes
The trailer not only offers a preview of the heroes' lives before and after they gain their powers but also introduces their adversary, Galactus. In the clip, Kirby emphasizes that no matter what challenges they encounter, they confront them together as a family. This statement highlights the importance of collaboration among the Fantastic Four.
A retro-futuristic interpretation of Manhattan, set in the 1960s, will serve as the backdrop for the forthcoming instalment of the Fantastic Four. During an episode of The Official Marvel Podcast, Feige revealed that the film will take place in New York City during a pivotal historical period; however, he emphasized that this version of New York may present a distinct portrayal compared to the one familiar to audiences within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Cameos and the MCU connection
Prior to Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, two films featuring the Fantastic Four were released in theatres. Since then, the studio has concentrated on incorporating these Marvel characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The 2015 reboot, which faced significant critical backlash, starred Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell, following earlier adaptations that included Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis in the 2000s.
Chris Evans, now predominantly known as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, made a clever return to his previous role as the Human Torch in a brief cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, only to be abruptly killed off. Likewise, John Krasinski had a brief appearance as Mister Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Creative team behind The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Written by Peter Cameron, Josh Friedman, and Jeff Kaplan, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman. Michael Giacchino has composed the score, Jess Hall is behind the cinematography, and Kevin Feige is the producer.
On July 25, cinemas will host the world premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
