The fourth installment of the horror-comedy film series Dhilluku Dhuddu, titled DD Next Level, is scheduled for release this summer. The producers announced on Wednesday that the film will premiere in theaters on May 16, featuring Santhanam in the lead role once again.

DD Next Level release date out: Santhanam’s film to hit theatres for summer

Actor-comedian Santhanam, who recently starred in Madha Gaja Raja, which marked the first commercial success for Tamil cinema this year, will reprise his role as the lead in the upcoming DD Next Level, the fourth entry in the Tamil horror-comedy franchise Dhilluku Dhuddu.

With filming now complete, the producers have revealed that the film will be released in theaters on May 16. Produced on a grand scale by Niharika Entertainment and The Show People, the film is being presented by actor Arya. Prem Anand, who directed DD Returns, will return to direct DD Next Level.

The cast of DD Next Level is headlined by Santhanam and includes Gautham Menon, Selvaraghavan, Yashika Anand, Rajendran, among others. The film is designed to appeal to audiences of all ages, from children to adults, with its storyline set aboard a cruise ship and on an island. Cinematography for DD Next Level is handled by Dipak Kumar Padhy, while the music is composed by Ofro. Editing is managed by Bharath, and AR Mohan serves as the art director.

The first part, released in 2016 and directed by Rambala, is available on SunNXT. It follows a couple whose love is disapproved of by the girl's father, leading to unexpected events after they are invited to a haunted house. Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 can be found on ZEE5, reuniting Santhanam with the director in a spiritual sequel. DD Returns, released in 2023, is a standalone sequel and is also available on ZEE5.
