Director Mari Selvaraj, who is fresh off the success of his film Vaazhai, is currently working with actor Dhruv Vikram for a film titled Bison. However, it was a while back when the director made an announcement that he will once again team up with Karnan actor Dhanush. In a recent interview, the director opened up the project and revealed that it will be a historical subject.

Dhanush and Mari Selvaraj came together for the first time for the 2021 action-drama film Karnan, which went on to become a commercial success and critically acclaimed film. Soon after, Dhanush announced that he will be once again collaborating with the director for another project. However, both Mari Selvaraj and Dhanush got engaged in their other projects and not much was made known about their second collaboration.

In a recent interview, Mari Selvaraj opened up, “It will be a historical movie, and will be an important film. The main reason why it is getting delayed because it a film which requires more time and research. I would need at least six months before shooting, six months after shooting, and in total about 1.5 months for the film to be made. Hence, I am trying to finish by other commitments before that.”

Mari Selvaraj’s next Bison

Mari Selvaraj is next working on Bison with Dhruv Vikram. Billed to be a sports drama based on kabaddi, the film’s shooting has been 75 percent completed, with the team looking for 2025 release. Apart from Dhruv, the film also stars Rajisha Vijayan, Anupama Parameshwaran, Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, Azhagam Perumal, Hari Krishnan, and others in supporting roles.

Nivas K Prasanna is composing the songs and original score. Ezhil Arasu K is the director of photography. Sakthi Thiru handles the editing. Bison is bankrolled by Pa Ranjith’s home banner Neelam Productions, in association with Applause Entertainment.
