Mid-Day has disclosed that the team behind Mardaani 3 is in search of an actor to portray the antagonist opposite Rani Mukerji. The director aims to commence filming for the police thriller by June. Meanwhile, the Yash Raj Films team is engaged in pre-production activities, with the screenplay and look tests currently in progress.

Auditions are being conducted to discover new talent and identify a formidable villain. Furthermore, the production team has secured the initial shooting locations, with certain scenes set to be filmed in Mumbai and Delhi. In the coming weeks, the team will finalize additional locations in North India.

In December 2024, YRF announced via Instagram the upcoming release of Mardaani 3. They disclosed that Rani Mukerji's Mardaani 3 is set to premiere in theaters in 2026.

The announcement stated, "The wait is over! #RaniMukerji returns as the formidable Shivani Shivaji Roy in #Mardaani3. Coming to cinemas in 2026."

In 2024, Rani Mukerji revealed the upcoming film and expressed, “As we embarked on the journey to create Mardaani 3, we aspired to discover a script that would elevate the viewing experience of the Mardaani franchise. Rani further emphasized that Mardaani is a highly cherished franchise, and they bear a significant responsibility to meet the expectations of their audience. She assured me that they would strive to fulfil this obligation.

“Mardaani 3 is intense, formidable, and ruthless. Therefore, I am eager to see how the audience responds to our film. I hope they extend the same affection to this instalment as they have consistently shown,” she remarked.

Additionally, Mardaani 3 will be helmed by director Abhiraj Minawala.
