Unni Mukundan's film Marco experienced a significant decline following its theatrical debut this past Monday, earning merely Rs 1.65 Cr on its 11th day. This outcome was unexpected, particularly given that the Hindi version of the Malayalam film had been allocated additional screens over the preceding weekend.

As per the industry tracking platform Sacnilk, the film's cumulative earnings now stand at Rs 37.35 Cr. Reports indicate that Marco was showcased in over 500 screens across North India, which played a crucial role in its Day 11 revenue, with the Hindi dubbed version contributing Rs 0.50 Cr.

Given that it is a weekday, a decline in revenue was anticipated. However, the observed drop was nearly 46%, particularly notable following a substantial weekend. The film directed by Haneef Adeni, featuring Kabir Duhan Singh, had garnered Rs 3.1 Cr on Sunday. Marco's highest single-day earnings in India occurred on its opening Sunday, achieving Rs 5.2 Cr.

Nevertheless, the producers remain focused on reaching Rs 100 Cr in global earnings, with the Telugu and Tamil versions of Marco scheduled for release on January 1 and January 3, respectively. To date, the film has accumulated approximately Rs 70 Cr worldwide.

Marco OTT rights sold to Netflix?

There are unconfirmed reports indicating that the producers have sold the OTT rights for the film Marco, available in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada, to Netflix. The streaming service is anticipated to release the film on its platform following its theatrical run, which may continue for at least another two weeks.

In a recent interview, Unni expressed satisfaction with the film's extensive reach and success. The Hindi version of Marco has now become the highest-grossing dubbed Malayalam film in North India, amassing a total of Rs 2.38 Cr. This surpasses the previous record held by Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham, which earned Rs 42 lakh.
