Malayalam film Marco is really making waves! After charming audiences in Kerala last month, it's now breaking box-office records with its Hindi, Telugu, and soon-to-be-released Tamil versions. The Unni Mukundan-led film is on track to surpass SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 record in South Korea.

The film's producers have announced that Marco will hit over 100 screens in South Korea, compared to Baahubali 2's 24 screens back in 2017. They’re also touting this as the largest release for any Indian film in South Korea.

Marco has sold the distribution rights for Korea

Noori Pictures from South Korea has snagged the distribution rights for Marco, and they’re gearing up to release the movie “soon,” as per the film’s crew. Interestingly, fans think that Marco’s genre might really resonate with South Korean audiences, who are known for their love of intense action flicks.

In other news, the Unni Mukundan film has made history as the first Indian action movie to get an R21 rating in Singapore.

Marco breaks the record for Malayalam films in the Telugu States

Marco may not be breaking any records set by Baahubali 2 just yet, but it kicked off with a fantastic start in the Telugu States after its Telugu-dubbed version dropped on January 1, 2025.

The film reportedly raked in around Rs 1.75 Cr, though industry insiders estimate it to be closer to Rs 1.1 Cr. Regardless, it’s the highest single-day earnings for a Telugu version of a Malayalam film. Just a few days prior, Marco also snagged the same record for its Hindi version.

So far, Marco has pulled in a total of Rs 42 Cr at the Indian box office and is on track to hit Rs 50 Cr in India and Rs 100 Cr globally in the near future.
