Marco, featuring Unni Mukundan, has earned a reputation as one of the most intense films in Malayalam cinema. With its tough guys and graphic violence that even affects kids, Haneef Adeni’s movie is certainly not for those who are easily disturbed. However, the film originally had even more violent scenes that were toned down following suggestions from the Censor Board, as revealed by producer Shareef Muhammed. Keep reading to find out what the producer of this fiercely violent film has to share.

Shareef Muhammed, the producer known as Marco

In a recent chat with Red FM Malayalam, Marco producer Shareef Muhammed discussed the intense content of their A-rated film, which underwent some tweaks following the Censor Board's suggestions.

"The Censor team didn’t completely eliminate the violence; they just toned down the brutality. The violent scenes will still show different levels of intensity. Whenever the brutality was too much, the Censor Board advised us to dial it back," he shared.

The producer mentioned that the board didn't remove any major scenes from the film, but they did tone down some of the brutality. "It was definitely more intense in certain parts, but the Censor had to cut it since it goes against their guidelines," he explained.

This action thriller is the first production for Shareef Muhammed, who is also said to be in discussions with Mammootty for a future project. However, neither the producer nor the superstar has officially confirmed anything yet.

Unni Mukundan’s Marco

Unni Mukundan's latest film, Marco, hit theaters on December 20, 2024, and it's been getting a fantastic response. The action-packed thriller raked in over Rs 10 crore on its opening day, marking an impressive start at the box office.

In the film, Unni Mukundan takes on the lead role, showcasing a fierce side of himself after facing a tragic event. The cast also includes Jagadish as the villain Tony Isaac and Abhimanyu Thilakan as Tony's son, Russell.

Marco serves as a spin-off from director Adeni’s Mikhael and features Siddique, who also appeared in the 2019 film alongside Unni Mukundan.
