Unni Mukundan's film Marco has successfully captured the attention of audiences nationwide, establishing itself as one of the most intense action films in Malayalam cinema. As excitement surrounding Marco continues to escalate, speculation regarding its potential release on OTT platforms has emerged. However, the question remains whether this box office hit will shorten its theatrical engagement to debut on streaming services in the near future. In response to these rumours, producer Shareef Muhammed has provided clarification through a post on Facebook.
Marco producer on OTT Release of Unni Mukundan-starrer
Marco is produced by Sharif Muhammed under the Cubes Entertainments banner. In response to speculation regarding the film starring Unni Mukundan being slated for an OTT release, Sharif Muhammed has stated that no agreements have been made with any OTT platforms, deeming the rumours as unfounded. In a statement shared on social media, he emphasized that the film should be experienced in theatres.
"We would like to clarify that, at this moment, we have not entered into any contracts or confirmed any arrangements with OTT platforms. Any reports suggesting otherwise are completely false and misleading," he remarked in a Facebook post that was also shared by Unni Mukundan.
The official announcement regarding the OTT release of the film directed by Haneef Adeni is forthcoming. He urged the audience to avoid disseminating false information concerning the film's digital release. Shareef assured viewers that they would be kept informed and stated, "Let us continue to celebrate the film by enjoying it at your nearest theatres."
Marco box office collection
Meanwhile, Marco has been enjoying a terrific run at the box office. After Marco created waves in theatres across Kerala, the movie was dubbed and released in other languages, including Telugu, and released in those states.
Numerous dubbed versions, particularly the Hindi adaptation, are receiving an exceptional response, with earlier reports indicating that the Hindi version of Marco has surpassed the Varun Dhawan-led Baby John in major metropolitan areas like Delhi and Mumbai. This achievement is significant for a Malayalam film, especially given that productions in Mollywood typically operate on considerably lower budgets compared to their counterparts in other South Indian film industries and Bollywood.
