"Marco" Day 4 Collection: Solid Show in Kerala, Yet a Dip in the Rest of India for Unni Mukundan's Action Film

16 days ago | 5 Views

Unni Mukundan's film Marco continues to dominate the box office in Kerala, significantly outpacing its rivals, Rifle Club and Extra Decent, in the Christmas release competition. Following a steady increase in earnings since its debut, the film experienced its first decline in revenue on Monday, which was anticipated given that it fell on a weekday.

Nonetheless, the film directed by Haneef Adeni still managed to earn over Rs 4 crore on its fourth day, marking its lowest earnings since its release on December 20. The box office figures for Marco on Days 1, 2, and 3 in India were reported at Rs 4.3 crore, Rs 4.65 crore, and Rs 5.2 crore, respectively, as per Sacnilk.

Marco holds steady in overseas markets on Day 4

The film, which had accumulated nearly Rs 32 Cr globally by Sunday, was anticipated to surpass the Rs 40 Cr mark on its fourth day. Although the producers have not yet disclosed the official worldwide earnings, it appears that the film may have narrowly missed this target based on its performance at the Indian box office. With the release of Barroz scheduled for December 25, the fifth day will be critical for Marco in determining how quickly it can enter the Rs 50 Cr club.

The film features notable performances from Siddique, Kabir Singh Duhan, and Jagadeesh, but it has also experienced a decline in collections across other regions in India. In Bengaluru, where the film was screened in over 100 theatres, overall occupancy decreased from 68.75% to 35.50%. Additionally, with Varun Dhawan’s Baby John set to premiere on Christmas Day, there is potential for further declines in revenue, contingent upon the audience's reception of the film.

Marco vs Barroz at the box office

The upcoming days will be significant for Unni Mukundan’s film, particularly regarding its performance in comparison to Barroz, which notably appeals to a completely different demographic. The film directed by Mohanlal is primarily designed for a younger audience, whereas Marco is exclusively intended for adults due to its graphic content.
