Marco star and co-producer Unni Mukundan responded to media inquiries regarding whether the A-rated violent action-thriller would surpass Rs 100 crore at the box office by asking, "Why set limits?" According to the filmmakers, based on the Day 2 box office figures, the film is on a promising trajectory to exceed the Rs 100 crore milestone.
As reported by the makers, the Day 2 worldwide box office collection indicates that the film has already earned Rs 25 crore. It is anticipated to have a significant weekend, potentially accumulating as much as Rs 35 crore over its three-day run, which commenced with an opening day collection of Rs 10 crore.
Marco achieves a box office collection on Day 2 that is twice the amount of its initial day's earnings.
According to industry analysts from Sacnilk, the film achieved a gross of Rs 4.65 crore on its second day, with the Malayalam version contributing Rs 4.63 crore and the Hindi version adding an extra Rs 20 lakh. Both markets experienced an uptick in revenue compared to the first day, and the producers are optimistic that this positive trend will persist for another week.
It remains to be seen whether "Marco" will surpass the Rs 100 crore mark, given its genre and the specific audience it targets. The film, rated A, is designed for viewers who have a preference for intense action narratives. Certain scenes, featuring Unni Mukundan in the lead role alongside Siddique, Jagadish, Kabir Duhan Singh, and Abhimanyu Shammi Thilakan, may be particularly distressing for sensitive viewers, as they depict graphic violence, including the killing of children and dismemberment.
Is it possible for Marco to be a transformative influence?
The film has been recognized as one of the most intense productions to emerge from the Malayalam film industry. Given the success of films such as Prashanth Neel’s KGF series, Salaar, and Raghav Juyal’s Kill, which have all performed well at the box office across various languages, Marco possesses the potential for significant success. Its only rival in the Malayalam market may be Aashiq Abu’s Rifle Club until the Christmas season. Additionally, Barroz and Baby John are other highly anticipated films scheduled for release in India on December 25.
Marco's success could pave the way for similar projects within Malayalam cinema, with reports indicating that Haneef is already planning to collaborate with Unni on another action film in the near future.
