Manorathangal, the long-awaited MT Vasudevan Nair anthology series, is gearing up for its grand release on Zee5 on August 15, 2024. The web series brings together 8 celebrated filmmakers of Malayalam cinema, along with the industry’s biggest stars including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, and others. Recently, the makers took to the official social media handles of Zee Keralam and dropped the special promos of the first three Manorathangal segments, which have been titled Shilalikhitham, Swargam Thurakkunna Samayam, and Kazhcha.
Biju Menon to headline Shilalikhitham in Manorathangal
The first segment of Manorathangal has been titled Shilalikhitham, and is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s popular short story of the same name. The segment helmed by senior filmmaker Priyadarshan, is headlined by Biju Menon. The supremely talented actor is playing the role of Prof. Gopalan Kutty in the segment, which also stars Shanthi Krishna and Joy Mathew in pivotal roles. Rajesh Murugesan has composed the music. Divakar Mani is the director of photography. MS Aiyappan Nair handles the editing.
Jayaraj’s Swargam Thurakkunna Samayam
Nedumudi Venu is making one last onscreen appearance in Swargam Thurakkunna Samayam, the second segment of Manorathangal. The segment, helmed by National Award-winning filmmaker Jayaraj, features the late legendary actor in the role of an ailing senior man, who is called ‘Mash’. The segment features a stellar star cast including Indrans, Renji Panicker, Surabhi Lakshmi, and the late Kottayam Pradeep in the supporting roles. Ramesh Narayanan composed the music. Nikhil S Praveen is the director of photography. CR Sreejith handles the editing.
Parvathy Thiruvothu, Shyamaprasad’s Kazhcha
The third promo brings a glimpse of Kazhcha, the third segment from Manorathangal which features Parvathy Thiruvothu in the lead role. The Shyamaprasad directorial features the story of Sudha, a talented singer who returns to her hometown to take a break from the mundane city life. Narain plays the role of Sudha’s husband, while Harish Uthaman appears in the role of her neighbour. Anshuman Mukherjee composed music for the segment. Nimish Ravi is the director of photography. The segment is edited by Vinod Sukumaran.
