As per the latest updates, it has been confirmed that Parvathy Thiruvothu is playing the lead role in the segment, which has been titled Kazhcha, in the Manorathangal web series. The segment is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s popular short story on the same name, which the legend penned at a very later stage of his career. The segment, which reportedly revolves around a woman’s journey of self-discovery, is set in the backdrops of the 1990s.

In his recent chat with ETV Bharat, director Shyamaprasad revealed that Kazhcha is one of those female-centric stories penned by MT Vasudevan Nair, who is best known for his male-led narratives. “This is about the identity of a woman, a woman's self-discovery,” revealed the celebrated filmmaker, who further added that he approached it in a different way. Along with Parvathy Thiruvothu, Kazhcha features MT Vasudevan Nair’s wife and renowned dancer Kalamandalam Saraswati (in her acting debut), Narain, and Harish Uthaman, in the pivotal roles.

Parvathy’s character in the segment is titled Sudha, while Harish Uthaman plays the role of Vishwanathan. Kazhcha, which is majorly set in Chennai city, was also filmed at the various locations of Ottappalam and Palakkad. Anshuman Mukherjee composed the music for the segment. Nimish Ravi is the director of photography. Vinod Sukumaran handles the editing. More updates on the segment, which is expected to be released as the third episode of the Manorathangal anthology, are expected to be out soon.
