Manorathangal, the Malayalam anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s famous literary works, is gearing up for its grand release on August 15, 2024. The prestigious project brings together some of the finest talents of Malayalam cinema, including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and many others. Mammootty is teaming up with senior filmmaker Ranjith for the Manorathangal segment Kadugannava Oru Yathra Kurippu, which is based on the Jnanpith award-winner's popular short story, Kadugannava Oru Yathra.

The Kadugannava Oru Yathra Kurippu teaser was revealed on the Zee Keralam official social media handles, today. Mammootty is playing the central character Venugopal, which is based on writer MT Vasudevan Nair himself, in the segment directed by Ranjith. The teaser begins with a little girl asking her elder brother Kochunni, where their father is now. When he replies that their father is in ‘Kadugannava’, the little girls are surprised by the name of this place.

Later, the teaser introduces Venugopal played by Mammootty, who is in Sri Lanka for his new job. He states that the people there are innocent, and are still in the shock of the war, during a phone call. Later, he was seen in the distance from his place to Kadugannava, to someone in a car. Meanwhile, the teaser also introduces a signature family setting of MT Vasudevan Nair’s literary works. Expectations are riding high on the segment, after the release of the promising teaser.

All about Mammootty and Ranjith’s segment

For the uninitiated, Kadugannava Oru Yathra Kurippu, which is based on the real-life events that happened when he visited Sri Lanka, while working as a Sub Editor in a leading daily. Along with Mammootty, the segment features Vineeth, Anumol, Savithri Sreedharan, Manohari Joy, Sumesh Moor, Shankar Induchoodan, and others in the pivotal roles. Bijibal has composed the music score for the segment. Sujith Vassudev and Prasanth Raveendran handled the cinematography. Manoj Kannoth handles the editing.-
