Tamil cinema may not have experienced an auspicious beginning in 2025; however, the family drama Kudumbasthan, featuring Manikandan, has emerged as a favorite among audiences. Released in January, the film is now preparing for its digital debut. ZEE5 has acquired the streaming rights for the film following its theatrical run.

Following the success of his recent films, Good Night and Lover, actor Manikandan took on a leading role in the Tamil family drama titled Manikandan, which premiered in theatres on January 24. The film quickly struck a chord with audiences, achieving blockbuster status shortly after its release.

According to reports, preparations are underway for the film's digital release. It has been previously noted that ZEE5 has acquired the streaming rights, with Kudumbasthan anticipated to debut on February 28. However, the official release date has yet to be confirmed by the production team. Once available on ZEE5, viewers can access the film through their OTTplay Premium subscription.

The film marks the directorial debut of Rajeshwar Kalisamy, who also co-wrote the script and screenplay alongside actor Prasanna Balachandran, who played a significant role in the production.

What is Kudumbasthan all about?

The film, as indicated by its title, centers on a married man grappling with various challenges while managing his duties and the associated pressures. It presents these themes in a light-hearted manner, infused with wholesome humour.

Kudumbasthan features a cast led by Manikandan, alongside Saannve Megghana, Guru Somasundaram, director R Sundarajan, Prasanna Balachandran, Kanakamma from Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, Jenson Diwakar, and others. The production is helmed by Vinoth Kumar under the Cinemakaaran banner. The technical team includes Sujith N Subramaniam as the cinematographer and Kannan Balu as responsible for the editing.
