Had events unfolded as intended, Mohanlal and Mammootty would have already filmed several scenes together in New Delhi and Hyderabad for Mahesh Narayanan’s forthcoming high-budget film. However, due to the Bazooka star needing to pause production for health treatment, the film's schedule has been disrupted.

While this situation could potentially create complications in a multi-starrer featuring prominent actors, it appears that MMMN is not facing such issues. This is largely because all involved, including Mohanlal, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, and Fahadh Faasil, are prioritizing the action-thriller, even if it means delaying some of their own highly anticipated projects until next year or withdrawing from them altogether.

Mohanlal, Kunchacko Boban push their projects for MMMN

Recent updates indicate that Kunchacko Boban has not yet confirmed his participation in Baby Girl, directed by Arun Varma of Garudan fame and penned by the Bobby-Sanjay duo. This film was set to reunite him with the writers and producer Listin Stephen following their collaboration on Traffic. Arun mentioned in a conversation with OTTplay, “We have not made a decision yet. He is waiting to see if our film's schedule conflicts with Mammukka’s project. The production team will make the final decision.” Should Kunchacko withdraw, Nivin Pauly is rumored to be in talks to assume the lead role.

In the meantime, reports suggest that Mohanlal has postponed his significant projects to next year after Mammootty requested him to reserve dates for MMMN, which is anticipated to be the next major Malayalam release in 2025 following the blockbuster Empuraan. Among the most awaited projects is a film directed by Jithu Madhavan, known for Aavesham, featuring the Empuraan superstar. This movie was expected to commence filming later this year. Although there has been no official announcement, sources indicate that Jithu may now pursue another project with Fahadh in the interim.

Mammootty’s next releases

Mammootty is preparing for the upcoming release of Bazooka, set to premiere in theaters on April 10, alongside Basil Joseph’s Maranamass and Naslen Gafoor’s Alappuzha Gymkhana. Directed by Deeno Dennis, this film is anticipated to be a game-thriller featuring Gautham Vasudev Menon and Divya Pillai in significant roles. Additionally, the actor has finished filming Kalam Kaaval, directed by Jithin K Jose, in which he is said to portray a serial killer.
