Mammootty is currently on a high with the success of his latest outing Turbo, which had its OTT release recently on Sony LIV. The megastar, who had a successful theatrical run in the first half of 2024, is currently busy with the shooting of Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Malayalam directorial debut. Earlier, it was reported that the veteran actor will team up with editor-filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan for his next outing. However, the latest updates suggest that Mammootty is planning to team up with a debutant director, for his next outing in Malayalam cinema.

Mammootty to launch yet another new filmmaker?

According to the latest reports, Mammootty is planning to launch yet another debutant director into the Malayalam film industry, with his next outing. The megastar is planning to team up with newcomer Jithin K Jose for his upcoming project, which is expected to start soon after he wraps up Gautham Vasudev Menon’s film. The untitled project will be bankrolled by the legendary actor himself, under his home banner, Mammootty Kampany. However, the official announcement will be out only after the projects officially goes on floor.

Mammootty’s upcoming projects

As reported earlier, Mammootty is joining hands with Mahesh Narayanan for an upcoming untitled political thriller. Earlier, the movie, which also stars actor MP Suresh Gopi, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban in pivotal roles, was supposed to go on floors by mid-2024. But the recent updates suggest that the project is now pushed to 2025, due to the busy schedules of its leading men, and the unavailability of dates. He is also set to reunite with Turbo director Vysakh for a sequel to the film, which is expected to go on floors after the latter wraps up Prithviraj Sukumaran starer Khalifa.

Later, the megastar is expected to join hands with Bheeshma Parvam director Amal Neerad, for a big budget venture. Even though the duo announced Bilal, a sequel to their much-loved film Big B in 2017, it has been delayed indefinitely due various technical issues. As per the reports, the upcoming untitled project of the actor-director duo is not a sequel to Big B or Bheeshma Parvam, but deals with a fresh subject. A major announcement on the same is expected to be out soon.
