Mammootty and Mohanlal, the biggest superstars of Malayalam cinema, have shared the screen in over 55 films, so far. The megastar and superstar, who are arch rivals onscreen, share a great friendship in real life. As per the latest reports, Mohanlal and Mammootty are finally set to share the screen yet again, after a very long gap. If the recent updates are to be believed, the Big Ms of Malayalam cinema are teaming up for not just one, but two films.
Mammootty and Mohanlal to reunite soon?
According to the latest updates, Mammootty and Mohanlal are planning to come together for two projects, in 2025. The rumours strengthened after Antony Perumbavoor, the producer and founder of Aashirvad Cinemas, shared a couple of pictures with the duo, with a special caption, that reads “Mammootty Kampany - Aashirvad Cinemas !!!”. The producer’s post suggests that one of the projects might mark the first collaboration of Mammootty Kampany, the home banner of the megastar, and Aashirvad Cinemas.
Mohanlal and Mammootty’s upcoming films
Mammootty and Mohanlal are reportedly set to play the lead role in an upcoming action thriller, which will be jointly produced by Mammootty Kampany and Aashirvad Cinemas. Some unconfirmed reports also suggest that the movie might be a sequel to Turbo, the recently released Vysakh directorial, which is currently available for streaming on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium. For the uninitiated, Turbo has been confirmed to get a sequel. Director Vysakh also hinted at another superstar’s collaboration with the future installments, in a recent interview.
If the reports are to be believed, Mohanlal is also expected to play a pivotal role in the upcoming Mammootty starrer, directed by Mahesh Narayanan. The role was initially offered to Suresh Gopi, the actor-turned-politician. However, the action superstar reportedly turned down the offer, due to his busy schedule. The makers have reportedly roped in Mohanlal for the instead. If things fall in place, the project, which is bankrolled by Mammootty Kampany, might have its official launch soon.
