Mammootty, the megastar of Malayalam cinema, and filmmaker-turned-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon are teaming up for not just one, but two projects. The duo is sharing the screen in Bazooka, the upcoming action thriller. Meanwhile, Gautham Menon is also expected to make his Malayalam directorial debut soon with a project that stars Mammootty in the lead role. Earlier, it was reported that the duo’s untitled project is slated to go on floors today (June 15, 2024). However, as per the reports, the shooting of the project has been delayed.

Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon’s project to start rolling in July?

For the uninitiated, Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon’s untitled film was expected to go on floors on June 15, 2024. It was also reported that the first schedule of the film will start rolling in Chennai. According to the grapevine, Nayanthara was originally supposed to play the female lead in the movie. But now, the much-awaited project has undergone major changes after the lady superstar’s rumoured exit from the project. Reportedly, Nayanthara turned down the offer due to busy schedule.

The Mammootty starrer is now slated to go on floors from the first week of July 2024 in Kochi. Instead of Chennai, the makers have reportedly finalised Kochi as the prime location of the film. Earlier, it was rumoured that Samantha Ruth Prabhu is replacing Nayanthara in the film. However, the sources close to the project denied the reports. The recent updates suggest that a relatively newbie actress has been roped in to play the female lead in the movie, which is produced by Mammootty Kampany.

Mammootty to play an investigation officer in the Gautham Menon film?

Some unconfirmed reports also suggest that the megastar of Malayalam cinema is set to play the role of an investigation officer in the untitled film. The Gautham Vasudev Menon directorial, which is touted to be a dark crime thriller, is expected to feature a stellar star cast, including some of the most popular names from the Malayalam and Tamil film industries. The untitled project will have its official launch only after the team completes at least 50 percent of the shooting, just like the previous production ventures of Mammootty Kampany.
