According to the most recent reports, Malayalam films that were scheduled for theatrical release on August 2 have been put on hold. The delay is a result of the landslides in Wayanad that claimed several lives on July 30 and the intense rains that are lashing parts of the state. Manju Warrier-starrer Footage, Asif Ali and Suraj Venjaramoodu’s comedy drama Adios Amigo and Vinay Forrt’s horror drama Chithini were slated to hit the big screens on this Friday (August 2).
The actors have also been sending their condolences and extending support to the victims of the tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of the morning.
Footage and Chithini postponed
The upcoming Malayalam film Footage's producers have confirmed that the film will appear on big screens on another date. This is Manju Warrier's first collaboration with Saiju Sreedharan, an editor turned director. Vishak Nair and Gayathri Ashok play important roles in the film. The makers of Footage claim that it is a thriller centred on the tale of an inquisitive young couple.
“Prayerfully with the people of Wayanad who are trembling in the torrential rains and landslides. The release of our film Footage, which was scheduled for August 2, has been postponed to another day,” wrote Vishak in an Instagram post.
Chithini, starring Vinay Forrt, has also been postponed. It is a compelling horror drama set in a forest, starring Bengali actress Moksha and Amith Chakkalakkal in the lead roles.
