Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan came together again in T. J. Gnanavel's Vettaiyan. Alencier Ley Lopez, who portrayed a judge in one of the scenes, opened up about his experience working alongside these legends and had some thoughts on their 'stylised form of acting.''

Alencier was out promoting his Malayalam film Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal and took some time to chat with the media. He shared his experience working on Vettaiyan, mentioning that he didn’t get paid for the scene they shot in Mumbai, which only took a day. “They sent me a flight ticket to Mumbai and put me up in a fancy five-star hotel. All I had to do was sit there as a judge for one shot, with Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth on either side of me.”

He explained that he accepted the role mainly out of curiosity to see how Amitabh and Rajinikanth acted on set, noting that he wasn’t really interested in acting in Tamil films or making a name for himself in that industry.

Looking back on their performances, he recalled, “Back in my pre-degree days, I saw Rajini sir stop a helicopter’s spinning blades with his teeth. I was eager to see how he acted on camera. During the Vettaiyan shoot, I watched him do his signature style, using his body language as he walked out of the courtroom. Then Amitabh Bachchan let out this lion-like roar, and I had to pretend to be shocked by it all.”

He went on to say, “I figured out that I just couldn’t keep up with them since I didn’t have the skills for stylized acting or a rich baritone voice. The only thing I can do is act in movies directed by people like Dileesh Pothan, Sharan Venugopal, and Rajeev Ravi. That’s when it hit me that neither of them really knew how to act. You’ll hear all about this tomorrow.”

Vettaiyan is an action-drama flick helmed by T. J. Gnanavel and brought to life by Subaskaran Allirajah through Lyca Productions. The movie features Rajinikanth as a veteran police officer who, during a murder investigation of a teacher, accidentally ends up shooting an innocent person. The cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan making his Tamil debut, along with Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Abhirami, and Ramesh Thilak. It turned out to be an average performer at the box office, raking in ₹253 crore globally.
