Maharaja out on OTT

Maharaja is one of the successful films Tamil cinema has seen this year. Starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, the film is a revenge thriller. It is written and directed by filmmaker Nithilan Saminathan who has earlier made the critically acclaimed film Kurangu Bommai.

Maharaja released in theatres in June and had a successful run. The film invited contrasting set of reviews, with some praising the film, while others dissed about the violence depicted. For the uninitiated, in Maharaja, Vijay Sethupathi plays the role of a barber who lodges a police complaint about a trash can been stolen from his house. However, as the police are confused why the man is creating a fuss for a dustbin, there seems to be more than what meets the eye.

After making its theatrical run, the film is now available for streaming on Netflix. Maharaja will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada to stream. Maharaja was a commercial success at the box office.

More on Maharaja

Maharaja features actors Anurag Kashyap, Sanchana Namidass, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami, Bharathiraja, Divya Bharathi, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, and others.

The technical crew includes B Ajaneesh Loknath composing the music. Dinesh Purushothaman is the director of photography. Philomin Raj handled the editing. Maharaja is produced by Passion Studios, The Route, and Think Studios.

“Maharaja is a departure of sorts from the landmark films that stars have been doing. Vijay Sethupathi is excellently convincing in his role and attempts to justify a film that is not spared by commodious and lethargic gimmicks and an excess influx of characters,” reads OTTplay review of the film.
