Maharaja is an upcoming Tamil film starring actor Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. It marks the actor’s 50th outing in the film industry. Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, Maharaja is an action drama which is set to release on June 14. Here is some more information on the film.

Plot

The action drama features Vijay Sethupathi playing the lead titular role. Directed by Nithilan Saminathan, the plot revolves around a hairdresser who goes to police station to lodge a complaint. While he says that Lakshmi has gone missing from his house, the police officials are left confused on what it is. The rest of the film deals with how the case proceeds and what is Maharaja’s true intentions.

The trailer of the film was released recently by the makers. While the release trailer features a lot of action blocks and violent scenes, the first one provides a little more context on the story. We see Vijay Sethupathi as a hairdresser who comes to police station to make a missing complaint. As the police seem confused about what was stolen, we get to know that there is little more than theft that has happened in Maharaja’s life.

Cast and crew

The film is written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan, who previously made his directorial debut with Kurangu Bommai in 2017. With Vijay Sethupathi headlining the project, the film also stars Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Mamta Mohandas, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Vinoth Sagar, Boys Manikandan, Kalki, Sachana Namidass. The film is bankrolled by Sudhan Sundaram, Jagadish Palanisamy. Maharaja is shot by Dinesh Purushothaman with Ajaneesh Loknath scoring the music. Philomin Raj has worked on the edits

Censor and runtime

Despite the violence that the posters exhibit, the film has been certified U/A by the censor board, allowing children to also watch the film with adult supervision. Maharaja has a runtime of two hours and 22 minutes and is touted to be an action drama featuring plenty of bloodshed scenes.

Post-theatrical rights

The post-theatrical rights of Maharaja rest with Netflix. However, a streaming date is yet to be announced by the makers. Ideally the film will be premiering on the platform after a stipulated time period of four weeks since the release of Maharaja.
