Superstar Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan is all set to make his acting debut with the OTT film, Maharaj. The film is already making headlines after the first look poster of the film was released a few days back. The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat in a pivotal role. However, the film has now sparked controversy even before its release. Know the entire story here!

Bajrang Dal threatens to stall Junaid Khan's Maharaj

The Bajrang Dal has now threatened to stall the release of the movie stating that it might hurt the religious sentiments as it might show the leaders in a negative light. According to Bollywood Hungama, the organization's youth wing has sent letters to Yash Raj Films, the producers of the film, and Netflix, the streaming giant, to request a screening of the film before its global premiere on June 14, 2024.

The representative of the Bajrang Dal added that they will take legal action against the film if necessary and also threatened that if the makers do not comply with their demands, they will stall the release of the film.

For the uninitiated, Maharaj is based on a true story which is based on the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862 which is considered to be one of the most significant legal battles in India. In the film, Junail will be seen portraying a journalist and a social reformer Ksrsandas Mulji. Jaideep Ahlawat, on the other hand, will be seen in the role of Jadunathji Brijratanji Maharaj, who was one of the heads of the Vallabhacharya sect.

There is no official statement that has been released by the director, Siddharth P. Malhotra, or the producers or the actors of the film yet.

Meanwhile, a few days ago, the first look of Maharaj featuring Junaid Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat was unveiled. The film is set to release on Netflix on June 14. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more on this and everything else in the world of streaming and films.
