Mahalaya: Social media influencer Payel Basak to play Ma Durga in THIS channel’s Mahishasurmardini

On the day of Mahalaya, many channels will telecast Mahishasurmardini which will show different avatars of the goddess. This year, there will be Mahishasuramardini on OTT as well. Koel Mallick and Subhasree Ganguly will play Ma Durga on Star Jalsha and Zee Bangla. Meanwhile, Rajnandini Paul will play Ma Durga on Hoichoi’s Mahishasurmarddini. Social media influencer and dancer Payel Basak will also play Durga this year.
Payel will play Durga in the Mahishasurmardini of Sun Bangla. How did she get the chance?
In an interview with ABP Ananda, Payel said, “Dwaipayan (Payel’s husband and dancer) and I have a YouTube channel. We planned to launch Mahishasurmardini. When our channel released some promos, Sun Bangla contacted us. We agreed then and there.”
How is her experience? She said, “I tried my best. When the shooting was going on, I felt I was not Durga. A wonderful experience. Such opportunities come if you have a lot of blessings.”
Payel and Dwaipayan were previously seen in Zee Bangla’s Dadagiri and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. People saw Payel’s dance there. Now she will go to battle as Goddess Durga.
