The long-awaited Tamil film Madha Gaja Raja, which has remained unreleased for several years, is finally poised for its debut. It is scheduled to be part of the Pongal festivities, with a theatrical release on January 12. This announcement was shared on social media on Friday. The film features Vishal in the leading role and is directed by Sundar C.

Madha Gaja Raja release date out

Madha Gaja Raja is a Tamil comedy film that has remained unreleased since its production began in 2012. Although the film was completed by 2013, it faced prolonged delays due to financial difficulties. Notably, the first official trailer was made available on YouTube approximately 11 years ago. The film features Vishal in the lead role, alongside prominent actors such as Santhanam, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Anjali.

After several postponements, the producers announced on Friday that Madha Gaja Raja is set to be released for Pongal on January 12. Directed by Sundar C, the film is expected to be a commercial entertainer, with music composed by Vijay Antony. It is produced by Gemini Film Circuit and marks the third collaboration between Vishal and Sundar C, following their previous works Aambala and Action.

Madha Gaja Raja and other Tamil films releasing for Pongal

Madha Gaja Raja has joined the list of films set to be released in theatres for Pongal, following the postponement of Ajith Kumar’s action thriller Vidaamuyarchi from the festival period. 

A total of approximately six to seven films are slated to debut over the Pongal weekend. This includes Kadhalikka Neramillai, featuring Jayam Ravi and Nithya Menen, Shane Nigam’s Tamil debut Madraskaaran, Sumo starring Mirchi Shiva, 10 Hours with Sibi Satyaraj, Arun Vijay's Vanangaan (which was already planned for Pongal), as well as Nesipayya by Aditi Shankar and Akash Murali, along with Tharunam.
