Lucky Baskhar, the recently released Telugu-language film headlined by Dulquer Salmaan, has been having a steadfast and successful run in Tamil Nadu. The film, which hit theatres for Diwali on October 31, has been witnessing an increase in shows and screens in the state.

Lucky Baskhar is written and directed by filmmaker Venky Atluri and stars Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role. Although a Telugu-language film, Lucky Baskhar had a multi-language release, including in Tamil. Owing to the success of the film, the state saw an increase in the number of shows and theatres.
Rock Fort Entertainment which is distributing the film, revealed that due to the overwhelming response for the film, it is being screened in 268 theatres and more than 1,100 shows across the state from Thursday. The film is expected to have a good run in Tamil Nadu, provided no big films are released in the first week of November.
Lucky Baskhar is a period drama which is set in Mumbai and 1980s. The film revolves around the titular protagonist who is a bank employee. Frustrated with the denial of promotion despite delivering his best, he indulges in smuggling deal and subsequently begins to steal money from the bank. However, his greed and gamble for money soon lands him in trouble.

Lucky Baskhar opened to commercial success and positive reviews upon its release. The OTTplay review of the film reads, “On the whole, Lucky Baskhar is one of the most thoroughly entertaining Telugu films in recent times. The backdrop, emotions, thrills, and Dulquer Salmaan's amazing act make this film rich in content and entertainment.”
Apart from Dulquer Salmaan, the film also stars Ramki, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ayesha Khan, Hyper Aadi and P. Sai Kumar, among others. The film is backed by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinema and Srikara Studios. Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film.
