Lubber Pandhu, the recently released Tamil film starring Harish Kalyan and Dinesh in the lead roles, will be making its streaming debut for audience outside India soon. The sports family drama will be available on Simply South platform from October 18 onwards, the streamer announced on social media on Tuesday.

Lubber Pandhu is directed by filmmaker Tamizharasan Pachamuthu in his directorial debut. It also features actors Swaswika, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Bala Saravanan, Kaali Venkat, Geetha Kailasam and others in important roles.

Lubber Pandhu is a sports drama about two rival men, with one of them being in love with the daughter of another. As their egos clash, the family drama unfolds and the cricket pitch becomes the showcase of their rivalry. Lubber Pandhu released in theatres on September 20 and following its theatrical run, will now be available on the Simply South app for audiences outside India. It will premiere on October 18. The streaming rights of the film have been bagged by Disney+ Hotstar. The streaming platform is yet to announce the release date for Lubber Pandhu.

Lubber Pandhu opened to positive reception upon its release and went on to become a box office success as well. Many praised the film for its screenplay writing, and the cast performances, hailing Lubber Pandhu as one of the best sports- drama to have come out in Tamil cinema.

The OTTplay review of the film reads, “Lubber Pandhu is a superbly crafted sports drama that cleverly entwines family drama to sportsmanship. With the cast ably supporting a film that places small moments of cherishing and powerful impact on the top, Tamizharasan’s film is undoubtedly one of the best Tamil films this year, and sports drama to have come out.”

The technical crew of Lubber Pandhu consists of music composer Sean Roldan, cinematographer Dinesh Purushothaman and G Madan as the editor. Prince Pictures backed the film.
