Approximately two months following its theatrical debut, Loveyapa, featuring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, has now become available on JioHotstar. The film is receiving more favorable reviews compared to its initial release.

This romantic comedy explores the challenges posed by social media and artificial intelligence in contemporary relationships. It follows Khushi and Junaid as a young couple aspiring to marry, but they must first confront a significant obstacle to their love: their smartphones. When her father requires them to exchange phones, hidden secrets come to light, threatening their relationship. The film is a remake of the 2022 Tamil movie Love Today.

Reactions to Loveyapa

Following their viewing of the film, many individuals took to Twitter to share their thoughts. A majority expressed appreciation for the positive message conveyed in the movie, describing it as "not bad at all." One user remarked, “#Loveyapa is a good one-time watch. A negative public relations effort can overshadow everything; otherwise, there is little to criticize about the film or its leads. #Junaidkhan #khushikapoor.” Another user stated, “Surprisingly, I enjoyed Loveyapa.” Additionally, one viewer commented, “I just finished watching Loveyapa! It’s a decent one-time watch. If the lead actors had been younger versions of Govinda and Karishma, it would likely be a blockbuster even today. I believe the original film 'Love Today' is superior.”

Another viewer rated the film 3.5 stars, stating, “This may be an unpopular opinion, but #Loveyapa was enjoyable to watch. #KhushiKapoor certainly shows promise, and #JunaidKhan is a talented actor. Khushi has excellent comedic timing, making the film an overall fun experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️½.”

The performances of the actors received positive feedback as well. One individual remarked, “Junaid Khan truly shines in Loveyapa.” This film marks the second collaboration between Junaid and Khushi, following their roles in Maharaj and The Archies, respectively. A fan expressed, “I just watched #Loveyapa on #JioHotstar and I’m puzzled by the negative publicity surrounding it. It’s a well-crafted film with a meaningful message. Both lead actors, #KhushiKapoor and @JunaidKhanREAL, delivered commendable performances. It’s definitely worth watching and deserving of praise.”

However, there were also some disappointed responses. One viewer commented, “Love Today in Tamil was an exceptionally well-made film with a fresh and relatable storyline that resonates with contemporary issues. They took that excellent product and turned it into a disaster called Loveyapa. What is this nonsense?”

Another viewer added, “Loveyapa on Hotstar feels like a two-hour advertisement for OnePlus phones. I considered watching it, but within the first 5-7 minutes, it was all about OnePlus. I’m not continuing with this.”

The HT review of Loveyapa noted, “The film attempts to cover a lot within its runtime—commentary on Gen-Z's obsession with their phones, online trolling, deepfakes, body shaming, and AI. It can be overwhelming. The first half focuses on the male lead discovering the female lead's undisclosed exes, while the second half revolves around her findings on her boyfriend's phone. There is plenty of potential for drama, but the editing lacks precision, and by the time the couple resolves their trust issues, you might wish they would just call off the wedding and end this chaos.”

The film grossed ₹8.8 crore throughout its entire run.
