Sanjay Leela Bhansali's OTT deal for Love & War

A while ago, Pinkvilla reported that Sanjay Leela Bhansali already signed a post-theatrical deal of Love & War with Netflix. According to a source, the 61-year-old filmmaker has decided to produce the epic romance drama by himself, rather than partnering with any other production houses or studios. The source told the portal, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali has decided to self-finance Love & War, opting for the model followed by studios like YRF and Red Chillies. Even before the film going on floors, he has signed a massive post-theatrical deal with Netflix, and a near-record music deal with Saregama."

Netflix has already bought the rights to Love & War

According to the report, Netflix has already bought the film Love & War for a premium price due to the massive success of Bhansali’s other directorial project, Heeramandi, last year. The overall non-theatrical revenue of Love & War is expected in the range of Rs. 215 crore. The source further shared that the cost of making Love & War is expected to be around Rs. 200 crore, as the film will be having some mind-blowing war sequences, and gross beyond the Rs 200-crore mark at the box office after its release.

“The three leading actors—Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, have gone for backend deals with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, with Ranbir getting a lion’s share from the set of theatrical revenue. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is looking to sell the global distribution rights too for a certain price keeping the overflow share clause intact for himself. The theatrical rights could act as the acting fees for the lead actors, as the non-theatrical rights have taken care of the cost of production”, the source further stated.
