
Rekhachithram OTT Release Date: Viewing Details for the Asif Ali-Anaswara Rajan Mystery Thriller

Rekhachithram, the major Sankranti release in Malayalam cinema this year, marked the industry's initial success by entering the Rs 50 crore club. Directed by Jofin T Chacko, known for his work on The Priest, the film features Asif Ali and Anaswara Rajan in leading roles. This mystery crime thriller intricately weaves elements of fiction with reality. The narrative, inspired by a story from Ramu Sunil, was further developed into a screenplay by Ramu Sunil and John Manthrickal. Upon its release, the film received an overwhelmingly positive reception from both critics and audiences.

Following its successful theatrical run, Rekhachithram was expected to make its way to OTT soon enough, with a post 30-day mark thought to be the window. However, the film did not make it to streaming then and it has now been revealed that it will take some more time to be available. Rekhachithram’s digital streaming rights had been picked up by Sony LIV, and the streamer has set March 14 as its OTT premiere date.

Rekhachithram features a diverse ensemble cast that includes notable actors such as Manoj K Jayan, Siddique, Jagadish, Saikumar, Harishree Ashokan, Indrans, Nishanth Sagar, TG Ravi, Srikant Murali, Sreejith Ravi, Sudhi Koppa, Saleema, Priyanka Nair Nandu, Vijay Menon, among others. The cinematography for the film is handled by Appu Prabhakar, while the musical score is composed by Mujeeb Majeed.
The narrative centers on the reopening of a cold case investigation triggered by a man's confession, who later takes his own life. Asif portrays Vivek Gopinath, the station house officer overseeing the case. The confession comes from Rajendran (Siddique) during a live social media session, where he reveals a crime he committed four decades earlier, alongside his accomplices, Vakkachan (Vincent) and Francis Thadathil (Saikumar).
During his investigation, Vivek uncovers a human skull and learns about a young girl involved in the production of the Malayalam film Kathodu Kathoram, featuring Mammootty in the lead role. The conditions surrounding the disappearance of the girl, Rekha (Anaswara), resulted in allegations of fraud against her. The events that transpired during the filming of Kathodu Kathoram are central to the story.
