L2 Empuraan trailer: The highly anticipated trailer for the sequel to the 2019 Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer, titled L2: Empuraan, was unveiled on Thursday. The release was expedited due to an earlier leak. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, this political action-drama features Mohanlal reprising his role as the enigmatic Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi Ab'raam, who is set to come to the rescue once again.

The 3-minute and 50-second trailer features Khureshi being summoned for assistance, despite organizations perceiving him as a threat. The trailer opens with Sachin Khedekar’s character, PK Ramdas, emphasizing that his true legacy lies not with his children, but with his followers.

Tovino Thomas portrays Jathin Ramdas, who is now at the helm of his party, yet faces ongoing sabotage. Manju Warrier’s Priyadarshini Ramdas also addresses the idea that familial ties should not outweigh the value of human life. Khureshi is called upon to return and rescue ‘God’s own country.’

In contrast to Lucifer, L2 Empuraan appears to explore Khureshi’s life and the organization he is affiliated with in greater depth. The narrative takes us across various locations, including Turkey, London, France, and Yemen, but concludes with the lingering question: Who is Stephen Nedumpally? The trailer suggests that this mystery will be unravelled in this instalment.

Rajinikanth, SS Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma all praise

Following the release of the trailer, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, not only from fans. Rajinikanth shared the Tamil version of L2 Empuraan’s trailer on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his admiration with the message, “I have watched the trailer of my dear Mohan’s film featuring @Mohanlal and @PrithviOfficial, #Empuraan. Excellent work, congratulations! I wish the entire team the best for the upcoming release. God bless.” In response, Prithviraj expressed his gratitude, stating, “Thank you, Superstar!!! @rajinikanth I will always treasure this, Sir!”

SS Rajamouli shared the Telugu version of the trailer on X, stating, “The #EMPURAAN trailer captivated me from the very first frame…@Mohanlal sir’s commanding presence is undeniably magnetic! The scale is immense, and the action is breathtaking. This already has the feel of a blockbuster, @PrithviOfficial. I wish the #L2E team a spectacular release on March 27!”

Ram Gopal Varma also posted the Hindi version of the trailer, commenting, “In terms of SCALE, #Empuraan appears ten times BIGGER, with ULTRA RICH CHARACTERS and ULTRA GRAND ACTION. The FINAL shot of the TRAILER is a STUNNING highlight, symbolizing the central figure behind LUCIFER, @PrithviOfficial.”

About L2 Empuraan

In addition to Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Tovino, and Manju, L2 Empuraan features Suraj Venjaramoodu, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, and Eriq Ebouaney in significant roles. The trailer provides a glimpse into their characters, hinting at an impending conflict. The film is co-produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies, with the story crafted by Murali Gopy.

L2 Empuraan is set to premiere on March 27 this year in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil. The distribution in the Telugu states will be handled by producer Dil Raju's SVC Cinemas. In North India, Anil Thadani's AA Films will oversee distribution, while Hombale Films will manage the release in Karnataka. Sree Gokulam Movies will take charge of the film's distribution in Tamil Nadu.
