K-drama enthusiasts were unaware of their desire for this pairing to return to their screens until the recent announcement from Netflix. The much-anticipated reunion of Stranger Season 1 co-stars Lee Joon Hyuk and Shin Hye Sun has been officially confirmed, thanks to the forthcoming mystery drama project titled “The Art of Sarah” (working title).

Lee Joon Hyuk, also known as Lee Jun Hyuk, is pursuing newfound success with the 2025 SBS TV romance drama Love Scout, marking a significant turning point in his career within the K-entertainment industry this year. While Netflix continues to release weekly episodes of his current series, which features Han Ji Min, in select regions, the Korean actor has already secured a new role.

On January 22, the official K content social media account of Netflix announced that production for “The Art of Sarah” has commenced. The esteemed actress Shin Hye Sun, known for her prominent roles in popular dramas such as Mr. Queen, See You in My 19th Life, and Welcome to Samdal-ri, has been cast as the enigmatic lead character, Sarah Kim.

In addition, Lee Joon Hyuk will portray Mu Gyeong, a determined detective tasked with investigating the various intriguing and elusive identities of the titular character.

Renowned director Kim Jin Min, recognized for acclaimed series like Extracurricular and My Name, has been selected to helm this upcoming Netflix K-drama, which aims to uncover “the real Sarah Kim.”

Fans are exceedingly excited to see Lee Joon Hyuk make his return to the captivating mystery drama genre, thanks to his impressive previous roles in productions such as 365: Repeat the Year, Dark Hole, Vigilante, and notably, Stranger. The latter series continues to be revered as an award-winning success, recognized for its compelling take on the crime thriller category.

Over the years, the series has achieved a remarkable status, prompting tvN to launch a spinoff titled Dongjae, the Good or the Bastard, which centres on Lee Joon Hyuk's character, Seo Dong Jae, released last year.

While additional casting and broadcasting information will be provided in due course, the onscreen reunion of Joon Hyuk and Shin Hye Sun has already generated significant excitement online. Fans inundated the Instagram announcement with comments such as “Wow Shin Hye-sun, Lee Jun-Hyuk! This reunion! It's finally the day I've been waiting for” and “They will work again? I love them both in Stranger.”
