In this week (Sept 2 to Sept 8), Tamil cinema will be witnessing the releases of a mix of OTT content and theatricals. The much-anticipated Vijay film The GOAT- Greatest of All Time, is also set to release this week. Here is a list of releases you will be able to catch in the following week to come.

The GOAT – Theatres (Sept 5)

The GOAT is an upcoming Tamil film starring actor Vijay in the lead role. The film is directed by Venkat Prabhu, and also stars Sneha, Laila, Mohan, Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Ajmal Ameer, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and others. The GOAT is touted to be an action thriller film, and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Vijay’s 68thfilm, The GOAT will mark one of the last films in the actor’s career who recently announced his political entry. AGS Entertainment is backing the film. The runtime of The GOAT is three hours and three minutes.

Vasco Da Gama – Aha Tamil (Sept 6)

Vasco Da Gama is a fantasy comedy, written and directed by RG Krishnan. Besides Nakkhul, the film also stars actors Arthana Binu, K. S. Ravikumar, Vamsi Krishna, Anandaraj, Mansoor Ali Khan, Munishkanth and Redin Kingsley in supporting roles. The film released in theatres on August 2. The film's technical crew consists of cinematographer NS Sathish Kumar and Tamil Kumaran handling the edits. Arun NV has scored the music for Vasco Da Gama.

Uppu Puli Kaaram – Disney+ Hotstar (ongoing)

Uppu Puli Kaaram is an ongoing web series which revolves around an elderly couple who run an eatery and live with their three daughters and a son. The show focusses on their daily lives as each of them have their own issues to tackle with, from a budding romance to workplace harassment. In between this, the elderly couple also have a secret of their own which is related to a famous actor. Four episodes are released every week.
