In this week (Oct 7 to Oct 13), Tamil cinema will see the release of the much-anticipated film Vettaiyan headlined by Rajinikanth. On that note, while the releases in Tamil is less, we also have the OTT premiere of Mari Selvaraj’s much-acclaimed film Vaazhai, this week.
Vettaiyan – Theatres (Oct 10)
Vettaiyan is an upcoming Tamil film starring actor Rajinikanth in the lead role. The cop action drama is written and directed by filmmaker TJ Gnanavel and backed by Lyca Productions. Vettaiyan also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Kishore, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, GM Sundar, Abirami, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, Ramesh Thilak, Rakshan, and others in important roles. The film revolves around extra judiciary killings, with Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth playing roles who have difference in opinion.
Black – Theatres (Oct 11)
Actors Jiiva and Priya Bhavani Shankar will be sharing the screen space for the first time with the upcoming film titled Black. It is directed by Balasubramani KG and produced by Potential Studios production banner which has made films like Maya, Maanagaram, Monster, Taanakkaran and Irugapatru. The film revolves around a couple who move to a new house, as they find some mysterious events taking place on the first night they move in. The rest of the film is about how they try to understand what is happening around them and come out it safe.
Vaazhai – Disney+ Hotstar (Oct 11)
Vaazhai is directed by Mari Selvaraj. The film is based on the life events that took place in Mari Selvaraj’s childhood when he worked in banana plantation. The cast comprises of Ponvel M, Raghul R, Kalaiyarasan, Nikhila Vimal, J Sathish Kumar, Dhivya Duraisamy, Janaki, and others. The film is presented by the banners Disney+ Hotstar, Navvi Studios, and Farmer’s Master Plan Production, with Red Giant Movies releasing it. Santhosh Narayanan has scored the music for the film.
