It’s the Deepavali long weekend and quite a few big-ticket films hitting theatres across languages. Not all of them will be available with Kannada audio, though, so, if you are looking at watching most, you will have to do so in the original language. The Kannada biggie, of course, is Sriimurali’s first release in three years. The buzz is that two much-awaited Kannada films will be available on OTT during the Festival of Lights. There’s been no confirmation from the respective streamers, but a long weekend outing for popular titles would be ideal.
Here's a look at the Kannada original and dubbed films releasing in theatres and on OTT in the week of October 28 to November 3
Bagheera
Roaring Star Sriimurali’s return to the big screen has him in the role of a crime-fighting vigilante called Bagheera. Based on a plot line by Prashant Neel, which, director Dr Suri turned into a script and screenplay, Bagheera has Sriimurali as a cop by day and vigilante by night. The circumstances that lead him to take the law into his own hands and mete out justice is what the film is about. Also on the cast are Rukmini Vasanth, Sudharani, Garuda Ram, Rangayana Raghu, Achyuth Kumar, and Prakash Raj, among others.

Ugravatara
Priyanka Upendra’s first action flick has her in cop mode as an officer called in to rein in a spate of violence against women. She is joined by Telugu actor Suman on the cast, along with Cockroach Suddhi, Pavitra Lokesh, Roopa Rayappa, Natraj Peri, and Ajay, among others. The team believes that the film will strike a chord with audiences, given how close the subject is to the recent rape and murder of a young doctor in Kolkata.

Dulquer Salmaan’s latest Telugu film has him as a cash-strapped bank cashier, who gets involved in money laundering. A Kannada-dubbed version is likely, but it remains to be seen if it gets shows/theatres after all. Venky Atluri’s film pairs Dulquer with Meenakshi Chaudhary.

Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi
Golden Star Ganesh’s romantic drama Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi is one of the most eagerly awaited films on OTT. The Srinivasa Raju-directed film was a box office success, and it was initially thought that like most other Kannada films, Krishnam Pranaya Sakhi would also head to Amazon Prime Video. Sources, though, suggest that the team got a satellite & digital deal from Sun Network and that the film will go to Udaya TV and SunNXT, respectively. An official confirmation is awaited.
