There is only one more major Kannada film up for release this year – Real Star Upendra’s UI, which hits theatres on December 20. With Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 expected to release across the country on December 5, and Shivarajkumar’s Bhairathi Ranagal currently in theatres, a bunch of relatively smaller, but interesting films are set to be out this week.
Here's a look at the Kannada original and dubbed films releasing in theatres and on OTT in the week of November 18 to November 24
Maryade Prashne
Maryade Prashne is the maiden feature film presentation from RJ Pradeepa’s Sakkath Studio. Directed by Nagaraj Somayaji, the film is a slice-of-life story set in the lower-middle-class neighborhood of Chamrajpete in Bengaluru. It centers on three close friends, Suri, Manja, and Sathish, whose lives are tragically altered during what should have been a joyful birthday celebration. The film stars Rakesh Adiga, Suneel Raoh, Shine Shetty, Teju Belawadi, Prabhu Mundkur, Poorna Mysore, and Rekha Kudligi, among others.

Aaram Aravinda Swamy
Actor-director Abhishek Shetty’s film revolves around the title character Aravinda, who is dealing with a fair share of struggle, which those around him fail to acknowledge. What he does to get ‘comfortably settled’ is what the film deals with. Aniissh plays Aravinda, while the film also stars Milana Nagaraj, Hrithika Srinivas, and Gowrav Shetty, among others.

Zebra
Daali Dhananjaya is the main antagonist in the Telugu original financial crime thriller led by Satyadev. The film revolves around a bank employee who orchestrates a scam to help his family, which, in turn, puts him in the cross-hairs of a powerful and ruthless gangster. Amrutha Iyengar, Sunil, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Sathyaraj, among others, are part of the film, which will be released with a Kannada-dubbed version as well.

Martin
Dhruva Sarja’s Martin which was universally panned by audiences and critics across the country, made its OTT debut, albeit for UK and US audiences only. Normally, when the streamer does a staggered release, with overseas first and then India, a film is expected to be available a week later. As such, Martin is likely to begin streaming in India on or before November 22. The film is currently in the store for rental only, and it remains to be seen if that’s how it drops in India too.
Streaming on: Amazon Prime Video
Streaming date: Expected by November 22
Kishkindha Kaandam
The Malayalam original thriller led by Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali, and Vijayaraghavan, was the Onam hit of the year. The Dinjith Ayyathan directorial borrows its title from the Ramayana but has no other mythological connection. The story, though, is set in a protected forest that’s densely monkey-populated. Kishkindha Kaandam will stream in Kannada also.
Streaming on: Disney+ Hotstar
