There is so much to absorb, experience, and take away from movies that treat the audience as the characters. You are no longer just a viewer but a pivotal part of the narrative. When that film is a horror thriller where a talk show goes wrong in every way possible, you are definitely in for a ride—one that might just end up giving you sleepless nights. Late Night With The Devil, which was released last year in 2023, is one such movie that managed to be a spooky affair, leaving the audience members scared after it ended. There is a chat show with David Dastmalchian as the host, and it goes horribly wrong, leading to an evil entering the nation's living rooms.
Late Night With The Devil On OTT
Lionsgate Play has released some of the most interesting movies in the last two months, more than ever. In July alone, the streamer has given us Room, Logan Lucky, The Arcadian, Replicas, Adrift, and The Iron Law. Before that, there was Dream Scenario, Copshop, BME, and much more. Each movie features big stars and potent content. Late Night With The Devil now joins this list and is all set to release on the streaming platform.
Late Night With The Devil is directed by Cameron Cairnes and Colin Cairnes and stars David Dastmalchian, Laura Gordon, Ian Bliss, and Fayssal Bazzi. The film has now been added to the upcoming movie list on Lionsgate Play's official platform. While there is no confirmed release date yet, the film is expected to hit the platform in September. You can also watch it with your OTTplay Premium subscription once it is released.
Is The Skeleton The Devil?
In Late Night With The Devil, there is a clever placement of a skeleton in the climax. The movie is about a host in 1977 trying to boost the ratings of his late-night talk show. To do this, he invites a possessed girl to the show, and that turns the world upside down. For the past year, there have been theories about who the real evil is in the movie, and many have pointed to the skeleton.
Talking to Variety about the same, Dune star David Dastmalchian said, “The skeleton to me, in the end, is someone who’s come from the coven to make sure and collect. The devil, in my opinion, really only makes one quick appearance in the film. And it’s quite subtle. I’m genuinely enjoying seeing on social media that people who have now been into their second or third viewing of the film are going, ‘Ah, I see when we got a quick appearance!’ Because as June says, she believes that Mr. Wriggles may not be Satan itself or Abraxas itself, but a minor deity that is serving the greater cause, if you will.”
